The Brussels CoProMarket was initiated by the Brussels International Film Festival (BRIFF) in 2016 with the aim of supporting feature projects in development, and of facilitation encounters between potential co-producers. 14 projects will be highlighted on 23 and 24 June, presented to European producers, but also to market actors, from sales companies to programmers, broadcasters, post-production studios and other representatives of the industry, and therefore about a hundred professionals gathered on this occasion.

The projects are organised in two categories. The Gap Financing Sessions are dedicated to European projects looking for Belgian co-production partners. Two Polish projects will be presented this year. The first, Cherub, is an animated film directed by Barbara Rupik, whose short film The Little Soul, selected in Cannes in 2019, had won the Cinéfondation prize. Another Polish film, this time a fiction with a fantasy atmosphere, is Thetys Ocean by director Anna Jadowska (Wild Roses [+see also:

, selected in Berlinale Generation), will present his new project, Crossing the Border. Croatian filmmaker Miroslav Sikavica will also be defending his debut fiction feature, Milch Cow, after having directed two documentaries and a few short films, with the latter of those, titled The Beast, receiving a special mention in Directors’ Fortnight in 2016. Finally, young French filmmaker Zoé Cauwet will be presenting her debut fiction feature, Corps Etranger.

The other section of this co-production market will highlight Up-and-coming Producers. It brings together nine projects heralding from Belgium, Germany, France, Lithuania, and Greece. The three Belgian projects are three debut features carried by young female directors and producers: Pauline Beugnies (who made her name with documentaries, including The End of Innocence [+see also:
